Have you ever thought of the impact, having a “hero” has/had on your life? Many don’t realize just what a hero does for you. Take a trip back to your childhood with me for a few moments. Just sit back, close your eyes for a minute and think about the person who was your hero.
TAKE TIME TO REALLY THINK ABOUT IT.. FEEL IT.. ENJOY THE THOUGHTS….
O.K., if you have really done what I suggested, you will be feeling these emotions right now:
• Euphoria
• Elation
• Power
• Excitement
• Awe
• Unstoppable energy
• And many more.
I know you are probably glad to have these feelings right now. Maybe your day has been long and hard, filled with joys, agonies, pain, attitudes, clashing personalities, or much success. All of these things fill each of our days. But, few take the time to really sit back and FEEL the great power of being a kid.
Do you have children of your own? Most people do, but if not, you know someone who does have children. Sit back sometime and watch their playing. Watch how they transform into Sponge Bob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, maybe they would like to be “The Donald”. Who knows.. They may even want to become a big boxing champion like Ali.
Are some of those “heroes” who you aspired to be when you were young? I remember the one person I wanted to be was one of my favorite teachers. She was one of these teachers that go BEYOND the teacher and become the friend, the type that changes lives.
I remember it well; it was 8th grade Algebra 1. It was weird in a small town, to go from 7th grade math to Algebra 1. We had never had those “advanced” classes except in High School. I was one of those students who loved mathematics, one who went all the way through to Trigonometry in High School. Though, if it wasn’t for this particular teacher I don’t think I would have gotten that far.
I was struggling with a concept, and she knew good and well that I knew what I was doing. She also saw the one part of me that I still work on today, FAITH in myself. So she sat down and we had a good heart to heart and she told me something that changed my entire life. She said: “You know what you are doing, why don’t you just quit thinking so hard and just do it.”
Now, when she first told me that, I was dumbfounded at the thought. Quit thinking? I thought she was nuts. But, I still see myself doing this today. I know many things that I have learned throughout the past 10 years working online, will help someone else. But, have I let myself do this? NO, I have let my “head” do the walking instead of my heart.
Do you catch yourself doing this as well in your own life?
Do you let your heroes inspire you to greatness like you did when you were a kid?
If Michael Jordan was your hero as a kid, do you remember what it felt like to “become him” on the court? It was as if NOTHING could stop you. Do you remember the feeling of power and the feeling of almost perfection? Do you remember what it felt like to watch your team mate’s/opponent’s faces when you would make that most difficult shot just like Michael would do?
As adults we tend to be all “intellectual” when it comes to our daily lives. We tend to forget the power that we had as kids, we have let society rule what we do or don’t do.
Why?
I never have understood why adults aren’t suppose to watch cartoons, unless they have children (as their excuse for watching them). Why not be able to enjoy a few minutes of LAUGHTER AND FUN! What harm is that in a person’s life?
I also don’t understand why adults have to be so close-minded when it comes to how they make their money. Educational systems these days make you think that a good job, with better pay, and benefits is where you need to be.
Well, I have to ask this: What good did that do for Enron employees? What good did that do for thousands of employees each day that get laid off or fired (so the company doesn’t have to pay them retirement)? It’s really starting to get on my nerves when I talk to someone about what I do, and they ask me, “How are you going to retire?” Hey, I will have more money in my choices of “retirement” funding than they would ever have in their 401k. Besides, I don’t want to sit around working a J.O.B. thinking that the social security system is going to pay my bills for me when I retire.
Here’s some amazing numbers for you. My father-in-law worked at a college in California for many years. He retired and moved to Arkansas, thankfully. Why, because his retirement and social security checks equal a whopping $1200/month together. His social security check after paying in for 40 years is only $676/month. Now, as a person living in the 21 century, how much does $676 get you? NOT MUCH!! Luckily for my in-laws they bought a cheap house here with the money they made from selling their home in California, so their only bills are utilities and groceries.
Most people don’t have that same good fortune. Most people today are retiring and having to live with their children, or at least borrow money from them. The prices of everything are outrageous, and people still barely get by, paycheck to paycheck.
How does this all end? It ends when people become educated financially. Many today are looking for their own home based businesses that they can run without having to invest in franchise fees and the high cost of starting a brick and mortar business.
But, I have seen so many of them LOSE the money that they make in their business, simply because they don’t know how to invest it for later on. That is something that many people today lack. They lack the training needed to keep the money they make. To keep from giving it all to the government in taxes, and most importantly, to keep it in their pocket once it gets there. I think pants today come with holes in the pockets!!
People need to be educated and fast if we are ever going to get out of the Rat Race and get into financial stability in the United States. So, when you are sitting there tired of the J.O.B. you currently have, tired of living paycheck to paycheck… ask yourself this question!
WHAT WOULD MY HERO DO?
Even if it’s a basketball player like M.J. or a golfer like Tiger. You can still gain inspiration from them. Like Michael Jordan always reached for the AIR, going above and beyond what normal men can do on the court. He “flew” from one place to another, defying gravity, defying doubt, defying disbelief.
Tiger is my age, and he has been called one of the greatest golfers. If a man in his 30’s can be known as one of the greatest golfers… what more can a man/woman with more insight become?
Yes, all of you out there who are older than 20/30… can do probably just as much if not MORE than those of us that age! Why, because you have been through more than we have. You can see things from a different perspective than some of us can. For instance, you can take what you learned from the gold rush, or from the great depression (not saying your that old) but, I know you heard the stories more than we do today.
The biggest lesson learned from the gold rush was; the ones selling the TOOLS that dug the gold, made more money than actually digging the gold.
So… I know there are many lessons that you have learned through your lives that you can use to make the money it takes in 2008 and beyond.
“It’s in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped” —– Anthony Robbins
I hope that you will take to heart what you have read here, and take the time to learn how to invest your money… use the power from your HERO to go toward the things your heart is guiding you to do.
Don’t ever take NO for an answer, do the things that sets your heart free, and your soul will appreciate it as well as your pocket book!
