“While static URLs might have a slight advantage in terms of click through rates because users can easily read the URLs, the decision to use database-driven websites does not imply a significant disadvantage in terms of indexing and ranking.”
“For those using WordPress permalinks, if you can be certain that they do not introduce any irrelevant elements into the URL (which WordPress is actually very good at producing) then there should not be any problems. For those using SEO modules that rewrite URLs (like the ones we featured last week), know in no uncertain terms that Google prefers the dynamic URLs as these solutions make understanding a website easier - for Google.”
What a way to throw a stick in the wheels of blog writers all over the net! I’m technically a geek when it comes to creating WP blogs.. but this is the part I really don’t understand… so what is this going to do for my blog? Is this going to create havoc cause I don’t need anymore… ROFL.
To read the full article that I was just reading at Website Magazine click here.
The permalink that I have chosen is one that was set up as a default of sorts within WP. It looks like this in its raw format:
http://www.DOMAIN.com/year/month/title without (minimal words)
Example: this post now looks like this http://www.affiliatehomebasedbusiness.com/2008/09/google/
The plugins that I am using take out all the little words like: (of, but, to, the, it).
It leaves the “base” of the title in the keyword phrased link. Leaving me a keyword loaded link if I title the article properly. I feel that is the key in using permalinks…
I’m going to go into Google and look at my stats and see if I have pages that aren’t showing up and such.. I may have to go back to the absolute default way of creating blog links.
http://www.domain.com/(number of post) I absolutely hate the look of this one!!
